Title: Coaching Session by Flemdog at Preston on 15th November
Post by: moley on October 21, 2009, 10:15 AM
Tony Fleming AKA Flemdog has squared it away with Preston Pirates to hold an coaching session for us old fookers.

Quote
The gate will indeed  be  available and the starting point of the course which will also feature:

Gate balance  / technique  (the main problem  with oldschoolers)
Speed jumping (how to increase  speed over them)
Manuals (speed manuals)
Jumping (AB and C’s of jumping  basics)
Pumping (utilizing jump exit  transitions to the  fullest)
Squashing (cutting through  jumps)
First ten metres (correctly  proportioned power  distribution)

The coaching clinic will be  for 2 hours from  10.00am until 12 noon.
Cost per rider =  @£15

Max places – @ 16  riders (2  gates)

I think it would greatly  benefit you guys and open up a more  rewarding experience from BMX  racing for you all...

Kind regards,

Flemdog.

I'll find out off Jamie if the Tabletop for the Start straight double will be finished in time!!!  :daumenhoch:

The provisional date (based on how many riders we can get) is the 15th November.

Ian, I'll have the plywood-infill done for that day if you want. It is just the double on the first straight I'm doing and not the whole track!
I've also squared it with Ian Brookes to open the cabin that day, so you'll all get a brew and the usual refreshments. You'll need a sit down and a sweet cup of tea after an hour or two with Tony! :buck2:

Preston Pirates- 'The Home Of Oldschool'. The club that keeps on giving............

Dont worry yet Dave!!

If we can't make the numbers up because of the date and another date is better for everyone then we'll change it.

Is that the only Sunday you have a problem with?  ???

If there is even a sniff of doing this date I would urge everyone to do it.

It's well worth it and you will be amazed at how much more you can do after the session.

That's my solid gold recommendation.

I strongly recommend joining in on this coaching opportunity chaps...
I do employ a safe ethos and won't let anyone jump until I can see they have learned the basics first and are able to achieve the correct speed (or removed the default panic style technique that seems to have been inherited by the nervous, he hee) and not just rely on a wooden bridge too far...

Any fool can fly, but it takes an oldschool expert to land  :coolsmiley: We have many levels of jumps at Preston that I could teach you the basics, balance and general principles of jumping (from mega easy to extreme or from Moley to Huddard he hee... x)...
For the price guys (£15.00 for two solid hours of advice, group sessioning, peer pressure confidence...!)

As Big Mike Miranda said "Come on guys lets get with the action!"  ;)

You cheeky fooker!!

If I attempt to jump anything then I want you lying down between it!!

It would serve you right, if I land on you!!!

Although I think my default panic style jumping technique is hardwired to my brain.  Only an EMP might disrupt the connection!!  :buck2:

I have this default panic flight path.  Flem knows it and helped me realise it and control it.  I don't get it right every time but the session made a pretty big difference.

I'm looking forward to getting together with a few like minded youths for a bit of peer pressure!!

S'all ready for ya.
If I could be assed putting photos up I would, but you'll be there soon enough. It's filled perfectly flush across the top and it's solid. I don't think I can make it there on Sunday to open the cabin though, so Flem will probably sort this with Ian. I could come with the keys in the morning, but I'm not sure how long I can stay. When I was down there I was chattting to a lad called Ollie who rides Preston quite often with his two mates- they're keen to join in on Sunday, so I told them to sign in on here or sort it out with Flem if thats o.k with you lot.
  See you at the weekend..

It was damp today but the track doesn't mind a bit (or lot) of rain, good session too with the wooden table top landing platform...!

Is everyone on the list coming (roll call).

Looks like we could have two full gates tomorrow and when I left today the weather turned nice too...  :)

Good , good laugh today

Great coaching

Failed miserably to improve today ,,, but I've took  all the super Flem pro training onboard

and hopefully , have my " Lock and Load " down and my pumping and squashing  honed

in time ,,,if not in the space of a day

Bren was lookin stylish on his Standard Trail boss

Daz was avin' it large on the first straight doubles

RAl was holeshottin' like a pro

and Dan was hobblin like James Caan  in " Misery "  :D

Big thanks to the Flemdog

Good to see the the lads too , on a day other than a race day  :daumenhoch:

We should do it more often

You tube is better like  ::)

P.s. - for those that have read Flem's 'how to gate' material and also watched the Jared Graves gating video on talk.

In my own humble opinion I think the Jared Graves piece is pretty poor and does really tell you any detail of what you need to know.  Flem's on the other hand is much more detailed and gives you real world tips on what to do.

Good stuff that is.

You'd best have a word with Flem on his gating material.  It's his IP for sure and given how good I think it is, it would be wrong to just pass it on  :police:

Problems

Windows Users

If you can't play these files then you probably need to download the appropriate CODEC.

Try downloading and installing one of these :-

http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download.htm

Mac Users and people using Windows still having problems

Download VLC Media Player :-

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

I aint got a Mac so let me know if it works!!

LMK if you have any problems or find any broken links!!

Fookin hell Gregster!!  :'(

Thats you out of the action for a while.   :(

Thats why I'm extra cautious these days (i.e.  scared shitless), especially about manualling.   The last time I flipped out at Creation, I knackered my foot and was out of action for months!!

Get well soon Greg!!  :daumenhoch:

PS.  Missing Bradistan isn't the worst thing ever.   I think I might throw myself down the stairs and see if I can break something too!!!  :D

Moley's only used to 2 or 3 gates,

I think the trouble was standing on the gate ready to go when you decided on a ten minute waffle about how you gated BITD.

I could have had an extra 5 gates if it weren't for your verbal diarrhoea!!!  :LolLolLolLol:
