Title: 2007 Ripper
Post by: Paul_R on April 05, 2021, 01:31 PM
Hi guys, hopefully I've posted in the right place, been a long time since I've been in the proper forum.

I have a 2007 re-pop ripper that I?d like to make more ?old-school? So I?d like to lose the v brake mounts and add a brake bridge for an Mx1000 or similar. I?d also like to swap the 1 1/8 forks & headset so I can use a quill stem.

So does anyone on here have the necessary skills to sort the brake mounts and can I buy anything off the shelf to fit 1? forks to a 1 1/8 head tube?

The brake bridge will be a nightmare. Well, unless you can find someone who will take it on. Getting them off is easy.

What bike do you have? a PK Ripper or a Ripper? they are different.

The headset should be pretty easy. You can calculate the OD of a 1" headset, then simply buy a sheet of alu in the correct thickness to wrap it (cut it with tin snips) and then press it in. I did that in a 1997 Jad Sherman I was given from a sponsor, but only had a 1" front end.

I remember a guy bought a 2008 Quadangle and had the lugs removed and a plate welded on and said it was a nightmare.

What you could do is switch out the V brake for cantis, which appeared on early PKs.
