Author Topic: NO MORE NORTH REGION, committee all stand down!!!!!! (Read 8006 times)

At the North Region AGM the other night, all committee members stood down. There were no nominations for new committee members andso as it stands it is up to the clubs to get together and sort something out!!!

Personally I don't know how bad this is, but I hope peeps can get together to sort things out for the future.

Will be a shame if BMX racing up North dies

I just got a generic email that went to all Leeds club members andso I don't know anymore $:-\$

Hmmm, sounds political.

This doesn't mean there's no North Region - just no comittee $:-\$ . I expect some comittee members get fed up taking sh!t for giving up their time with little thanks and no reward.

I hope this can get sorted as I have had nothing but positive experiences whilst racing in't North.

EDIT: I just read this thread on TALK - http://www.bmxtalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31669 - and there seems to be a rather more postive reporting of the North Region AGM. Sounds like the the core ladies are moving on after years of dedication but otherwise, the futures bright!

To me (and I may be wrong) it looks like BCF gives the regions and clubs very little support, and they are the main association that we all pay in to - so where does all the money go?
I'm happy to be corrected if this isn't the case.

politics.. if clubs are holding races it up to US as riders to turn up and support each and every club possible. BMX racing will never die as long as people get on their bikes and turn up and ride.

BCF don't want to know about bmx, they only see it as riders to poach for track and road.
we need more support in bcf or like ratty and i have said we reform UKBMX and make our voice known that way

Tad harsh that Andy, they are building a massive BMX complex right next to the velodrome oop north, hardly the actions of an organisation that is against BMX.

I do feel the same as you though re stuff at our level

Andy - I think you have a very good point there. Considering the high regard that BMX activities are held in by Councils, Schools, Community/Youth Groups, parents etc, I get the strong impression that BCF is failing to support/promote BMX properly at local level.
I know that there is an issue to do with being part of an internationally recognised body for European and World competition, and I guess that's why BMX linked up with BCF in the first place?

Doesn`t help that virtually nobody has stepped forward to take over.Not surprising as it is a big commitment & sometimes a thankless task.There will no doubt be another general meeting soon to try and resolve the problem.

good point that james, a lot of time and personal effort is put in , with little thanks. may be if race subs were put up a pound and that was paid to the people who do give up so much time? just a thought.

It is not held in high regards by all Councils etc, you count up how many tracks there are nationwide,(considering bmx is now an Olympic sport) compared with say 30 years ago ?
How many tracks are there in the North east , Cumbria or Scotland ( considering the success of sir Chris Hoy )
Wasn't there talk of a track in Cumbria, how's that getting on !...
Maybe the BCF don't support BMX north of Birmingham

if bcf didnt take their bit for doing fook all in the north region, the subs could stay the same n the clubs would be quids in surely?
