GL DP Firebird survivor ,
« on: May 17, 2012, 09:57 PM »
I was given a phone number over a month ago of a guy that might have some old school BMX bits , well i finally got round to ringing him , well i'm so glad i did after a while chatting he said to be honest i'd rather sell everything in one job lot so i suggest you come over so i did ,
this is just one of a number of old school freestylers i got today ,  the serial number is 961 it's a GL 3 hole model and is in a bronze colour , the guy said it was mint until his wife made him move it from under the bed last October to the shed  :knuppel2:  what a shame , when i first saw it i laughed at the crank being on the wrong side but once i had a good look over it tonight i think it's had some new school lhd wheels fitted as the rear drop outs are much wider . I was going to sell this but after getting a bit of history off Bret i'm deffo keeping it , the Bulls eye cranks will be coming off and it also came with a DC seat post clamp thats in really good order .
I don't think it'll come up too good so it looks like it'll be redone but no sure what at this moment in time .

Cheers for the chat Bret , as you said it's most likely to have been a gold one over chrome hense the bronze tint to the chrome  , the forks are deffo mark 1 but i've got some mark 2 with the cable hole so result there ,  :daumenhoch:

Very nice find and the extra bits on it just make it an even better result.  :daumenhoch:

Mine was in just as bad state or worse even and i was happy with the chrome after a very gentle clean. Shame the dropouts need work otherwise this would have made an  amazing survivor.

Just come back for another look at this.
I know the ni-bronze was darker and came with the white decals but this does look to have some sort of tint to it.
Maybe the frame was never chromed after the nickel plate. With the frame been properly polished 1st as it clearly has this is what it would look like just niclkel plated only. :-\
