I like the look of the ones Pickle put on his new ripper
Not having a dig but personally I wouldn't grind off the lugs to put on a caliper brake that doesn't work as well. Your bike though, so do whatever makes you happy  :daumenhoch:

Did you just touch in with a rattle can? What paint did you use?  :-\

You made a nice job there. Like the way you covered it up so not to replace the decals. :daumenhoch:

Does anyone know out of curiosity if you heated up the brake lugs would they just snap off?  :-\ Now I've just said that it would probably not be worth it as it would make most of the paint bubble.  :D

Just curious, did you check if a caliper would reach, it looks quite a distance from the brake bridge to where the wheel would sit  :-\

I've seen this done before, there is a problem with the reach of the caliper brakes if you use reissue MX1000s as they have the same reach as OG MX900s and it causes a few knock on problems, they will only work if the rear wheel is slammed in the drop and it is hard to tension the chain.

OG MX1000s should work better though.

Totally bonkers but hey your bike  :daumenhoch:

Step 2-cut off headtube, step 3-cut off BB shell, step 4 cut out that extra length off the front end... :idiot2:

 :LolLolLolLol:

To be honest, if i didn't have an original T/A and wanted to build an old school replica, i'd have probably done the same. Depends what you want I suppose. If I was building it as a retro looking bike but with components that work well, i'd have left it as it was. I don't mind V brakes if they're hidden round the rear of the seat stays

I have to disagree with the comments about callipers not working well. Agreed, 'V' brakes are better due to the design of them but, if you set a calliper up properly, starting with oiling the inner cable, they work perfectly fine. You have to ensure that you use the right pads for the rims you are using and, use a decent lever too. I didn't see some of the huge guys riding back then doing flatland tricks having issues with using callipers.

Your bike buddy, do as you see fit  :daumenhoch:

Nice work but I think I'd rather save up an extra hundred quid or so and buy an original TA rather than go through the hassle of all that......but, as people have said already, it's your bike to do as you wish.
