i had white ones bitd fink they was copys
i landed a tad of centre and they threw me off
the bike right in front of a car
lucky he missed me but boy did it hurt lol
wouldnt mind a set again tho lol

I had white ones BITD and it was great fun doing that.

Well until they were buckled that is. There was a myth about putting them in the freezer and they would straighten out, anyone remember this?

greg, that wasnt a myth, it was true but you had to loosen all the spokes, dupont plastic straightent back to its original shape when cold, only problem was back then nobody had a freezer big enough :santa_cheesy:

whenever anyone round this neck of the woods got some we all had a go and did the boingie kick out and they were never the same after a few of them. I had some on my Kuwie and had to rebuild them cos of it.

i had a pair of blue ones on my gt pro 4 ,same thing happened everybody wanted to do that ad and they just were not the same after .pity cause i liked them

I've got a set on one of my rides, but as I don't ride it, it dunt really matter that I'm a heavy muvva.

you might as well have rims made of pastry
they were flexy to ride when i was 12 years old - they would be impossible now.

true they are very easy to flex as i was bending some the other day with me hands
but i reckon with some heavy duty spokes they would hold up a bit lol

Am I right in thinking there were a few Z-48s made? I'm sure I remember reading it somewhere.

I broke a Z-Rim. It started out as a small ding/crack; I got a free replacement, but when you factor in the price of spokes over a couple of Summers, how free was it?

i could never see the point of z rims.

stronger than alloys? doubt it.
lighter than alloys? maybe by 1 gram.
better than alloys? um . . . .

someone put me straight.
i have a history of missing the point.

i still find myself bidding on these hula hoops though. i need to buy some and see how they ride now.

what year did they come out? 1980?

i am keen to ride on some. hopefully at the next OS meet someone will have a bike with some on i can ride.

I remember a lad at Ipswich laced some up for his race bike,made sure all th spokes were nicely tightened and the wheels were true,later in the evening we went up the track and me being a bit intrigued by what Z rims were actually like decided to give the rear forks a bit of a flex with my right foot........I was so amazed much I kept doing it all night long much to his delight

........was even funnier following him back to his house that night with his now not so true wheels in motion!!!!!!
