And he was a cool guy.  :coolsmiley:

Definitely. I'd only met him a couple of hours before my cable adjuster broke at a Southsea KOC, rendering the brake useless. He spotted it, said he'd a spare I could have, next thing we're down the road rummaging around amongst the tools and spares in his car boot. Cool isn't the word!

... but statistically it must be almost impossible to not make it so many times when you try it so many times

I never knew him so it's nothing personal... but just being objective about it he almost deserves a medal for being quite so hopeless

 :LolLolLolLol:

From the outside, I can totally see why you're sayin' that Ralph, but Eric eventually became an awesome rider.
(What do I mean 'eventually'!! Anyone that did what he did back then WAS awesome - just for tryin' it!! :LolLolLolLol:)

To me the old comps ('84 - '88) that I went too/competed in  were just the most amazing events 'cos someone like Eric or Mr. Spicoli and various others would try something insane. Even tried the odd thing myself....

Eric DID crash a lot BITD, but later on, as he smoothed it all out, he was brilliant - look at that pic of the 1 foot invert- drop crank, fully stretched and inverted -  his lookbacks were awesome, but he still went for the mad things - the twists, the handplants, and I f@ckin' loved 'im for it!
Long Live Crazy Eric!!  :LolLolLolLol:

When Eric turned up at our little bmx club with his brother Scott...

I watched him throw the most dialed 540 i'd seen... 6 ft out, perfect rotation... smooth too!!

you just don't get as dialed as that if your're just a ' hopless rider ' who just goes for mad stuff...

I thought Eric was a Great rider and as it 's already been mentioned earlier in the thread...

these video's do not do the man justice!!!

few more pics here too....

Just looked at these pics, the one with eric dropping in from Rom's half pipe wall, thats me standing by his back wheel in the blue body warmer, showing him how to do it! I remember this day. Eric sure was a laugh, i'd quit riding by the time he got 'polished' shame, wish i got to see him ride like that.

Awesome pics Denny!
I'd love to see more from the ramp room, especially the Reardons.
Has there been a tribute to Marc thread up here yet?
Most people don't know how amazing he was.
Do you ever see Andy?
What about Mike Cameron... love that guy!

I remember Marco. He used to ride a lot at Talakers & Cantelose skate parks (not sure how you spell them, I'm from round them parts). I think I first met him in 81, a proper nutter. He was the first person I ever saw do a back flip. Wiped out but it was still good to see.
What ever happened to him?

Do you mean Marco Lara?

I rode with him a lot in 82-84.  Legend   :4_17_5:

I saw him at Rom in the late 90s, riding with his son. He promised to ride regularly, but sadly I've not seen him since  :(
