What was the name of that other track up that way?  Waverdale? South Shields?  Went to a UKBMX national there, probably 86.  Can never remember the name...have seen only one pic of that place on here.

Church St was the first place I ever really rode a bike off road, age about 6 or 7.  I can't remember much about it but I do recall being too scared to ride down the starthill.  Seems not much has changed since then really.

Pitty about the track too, now a partial bridge / failed bus station project.

That's it Paul, didn't know it was still there I was told years ago it had been built on. I'll have to go over and have a look  ;D Bet it's used for motobikes now though.

Don't know why the map say's Whickham it's actually in Wallsend, totally opposite ends of town

Just had a look for the Powder Monkey but it looks like that has been bulldozed, which is a real pity as I went there 4 years ago and it was still half decent  :-[

Raced once (maybe twice) at Teesside airport and I remember the very first meeting after it had tanked down, the track was flooded, but the meeting went ahead anyway dodging puddles. The reason I write this is it lead to a pic in BMX Action mag that always sticks in my mind of Johnny Mckinney sliding in the wet and water spraying everywhere.
When was saltburn running and did I ride there?..... Paul will know :D

Another memory comes flooding back  ;D, have you still got them mags Keith?, I'd love to see that picture again. I was racing at Saltburn before I won that trip to the USA so I would have been 16, that makes it about 84.  I can't remember if you raced there or not. Here's the google maps link if it helps.

Cool Scott  :daumenhoch:

That Gateshead track is Windy Nook which wound down quite a steep hill that just by the name you could tell it was pretty exposed  ;D had to HUGE (as I remember) speed jumps in the first straight which my sister cracked her Race inc over at the first meeting there also was a rumour somebody had a really bad neck injury at the first meet. Just had a look on Google maps looks like it has gone as well.

The Newcastle one is Weaverdale.

I remember that first jump at Southbank been huge it looks tiny in that photo  ;D

And it's great to see the easiest gate in the world to jump again at Teeside  >:D
