To Restore... or not Restore...

beard1973:
...that is the question.  :D :D

As some of you will know I am currently rebuilding Craig Schofields 'actual' bike that he WON the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS in 1985 on.

Craig has left me to get on with it and all being well it will be ready to give back to him at the Burner Bash 2010 next month.

Some parts from the bike are the 'Original' items that Craig used BITD... other bits we have had to source.

The F&F's were in a real state, as were the cranks.... but these are now all MINTY fresh and BLING TASTIC'...

Just about finished cleaning up/restoring all the parts now but wanted your guys input/thoughts on what I should do with the pedals.

These are Craig's original HUTCH Beartraps from the 80's... the bodies are in great conditiona nd just need a good clean, but I am at a crossroads with the Cages..

Bearing in mind that the rest of the build is either fully restored or NOS bits...

Do I...

A] Swap these cages and buy a set of NEW replacement cages

B] Reshape these original ones and give them a sympathetic polish.

C] Leave them as they are as the only part on the build that will look used.

Help me guys... :P :P

Stodgy:
Dave, gotta say, I wouldn't have touched a thing on the bike, just a quick clean-up and left it as a piece of history.

QUADROPHENIA:

yep agree with stodgster, what ever you do its still a burner so putting nos parts on it aint gonna change it all' leave the pedals as they are

bmxbob:
I would

B] Reshape these original ones and give them a sympathetic polish.

RATTY:
Dave, if you have repaired, replaced, re-painted most of the bike then replace the cages, I have seen so many so called "survivor"  bikes that have been polished, painted and had bits swapped out.
The frame and forks are the heart and soul of this build, the parts will have some meaning but who will really care, or even notice??
It would just be nice to see this back to a blinging state.
