It started in 1975 when someone imported the completed bike "Merida mono-shock" from Taiwan to Thailand.

Below are two ad pics which you can see "Merida mono-shock" on the left side.
At that time, the price was THB 2,750 (GBP 55) for a completed bike.

We strated BMX racing in 1976 or 1977.

You can see from below pic, almost riders used "Merida mono-shock" and the rider number 48
who wear glasses & red flip flops (his name is Yuttana) were the first Thailand BMX Racing Championship (in 1980).

Last few years, one of my OS BMX friends here found and bought this Merida mo-shock for his collection.

Unbelievable for its conditions in 35 years after...

Let's continue...

Below pic was the Ad of Kuwahara KZ-1 which Yutthana was the presenter.

I heard this black-gold KZ-1 completed bike was sent airfreight directly from Japan.
At that time, I recall her price was THB 7,000 - THB 7,500 (GBP 140 - GBP 150).

Since 1978 OS BMX was boomimg here, BMX racing had been organized every weekend in Bangkok and upcountry.

We had many racing teams supported by BMX factory/dealer or BMX shop. Below pics were some racing teams.

1. Merida factory team (Merida BMX was made in Taiwan)

2. Pheasant factory team (One of local BMX brands made in Thailand at that time)

3. Pioneer factory team (Another local BMX brand made in Thailand)

4. Tha-Pra team (This team owned by a BMX shop).

5. Thanakom team (This team owned by another BMX shop).
