then and now
« on: September 15, 2011, 10:19 AM »
places we rode then and how they look now

from 80 to 86 i rode with many others in my local park (Beckenham Place Park) in a spot in between a river and a kiddies play park.
so here are some pics of back then, i made lips on the slopes and you could get BIG air off them.

and how it looks now, totaly over grown

ps
not me in the pics, it's Lee Allen (spillers)

next one i've done is Rom, first pic is me

next is spillers

and lastly Andy Young (chris's brother)

and how it looks now

next up is Eastway
pic is me jumping Andy Youngs legs with Chris Young with his back to the camera. the start hill is top left of the picture
ignore the top pic its knebworth

and how the place looked a couple of years ago, i think it has now been bulldozed for the olympics

next is Buckmore Park
me over the tabletop

how it is now, the track has gone completley and been replaced by the go cart track extension

where the start hill was

This fits right in here.

The small photo is me at a small bmx track in 1991. A friend took the main pic at the same place yesterday.
I still ride there all the time, its real close to where I work.

But Harrow is still going strong. Infact its more rideable now than it was in the 90s. Now there's just one bowl left to unearth

When Hootski got his original Chromo Burner rebuilt, we took it to my dad's with a Mongose Cali I had at the time and suprised him. Needless to say, we hopped straight on them and went for a spin to our old local tack and ramp site in Halesowen.......

Like this, it's totally overgrown now. We had a pump-track in a bowl that we found evidence of only one or two bumps left, but most upsetting was the "bomb-hole" where we spent all our days digging out quarterpipes and jumping the big doubles at the bottom with the water in the middle..... totally gone and overgrown..... I now know that it was a balancing pond for the new housing estate that got built, hence the name we gave it as you had to literally drop-into it and ride like fook to get back out, but alas now it's just a gentle path throught the wild weeds where dog-walkers frequent :'(

Got a pic of it now somewhere, but back then we didn't have many cameras between us unfortunately....

On the plus side, I have a pic of the 8' kick-turn ramp in my dad's back garden he built after I missed the ramp completely on my way back to earth from an aerial and spent my first stint in hospital with a fractured skull at 13...... and his garden is still the same now, albeit stocked with nicer plants! I'll scan them in and put them up and you can check out my Wham! highlighted hair and Hootski's Keegan perm when I get a chance  :buck2: :2funny: :coolsmiley:
Still limping......

Me at Harrow just over 3 years ago...

I skated there WAY back when it first opened and then progressed to BMX and back to skateboards in the late 80's; one of the original Harrow Boys...
