Street Beat fork problem

(1/2) > >>

punkrockhammer:
I am building an 11-85 Street Beat and have some new Tuff II's but they don't seem to drop into the forks

Am I missing something? Should they resist a little or is something wrong?

I think the frame may have been coated at some point but is kosher as it has the right stamps in the right places, so I'm assuming the forks are what I was told they are.

But then I've had cheap forks before and had no trouble dropping wheels in...

Any advice on how I fit the wheel without damaging anything?

animal:
The normal Old School front axles have a flat on 2 sides so they slide in and rotate then tighten , so they don't drop out easy or dislodge  ;) Simply file a flat on either side of the axle so they slide into the forks  :daumenhoch: Job done  8)

This is assuming that the new tuffs don't have larger diameter axles aswell , but somebody will come along I am sure 2 confirm this    :daumenhoch:

brummie:
the new front tuffs do not have flats filed into them so you will need to do this in order to fit them to your skyway forks :)

i did a set using a small hand file

BMX1973:

If you dont fancy filing down the axles, get these front axle replacements from winstanleys.

Nice one, guys

How far do you suggest I file?

1cm? Less? More?

Could do without cocking this up  ;D
