Is it the outer diameter of the socket that is stoping it fitting into the crank arm? I had the same problem, had to grind down the socket, if you don't have the facilities to do this let me know, pretty sure mine is also 15mm, I'll post it to you as a loan.

Well I must admit it doesn't insert very well but its the only 15mm socket I have. Can you get 15mm that are tapered? Has anyone got one that will fit...?!!  :(

Halfords do a slim range of sockets - I have one for this very purpose  :daumenhoch:
