but the front end looks the same length as the back

we used to used the oven cleaner pads to take sign writing off the side of vans when we had our pitch a few years ago.
you know the ones that have the cleaner inside the pad.
not brillo's they were plastic with a foam base.
might be worth a try.i know it used to take the writing off anyway.

It's a gussetless mk I burner frame... quite rare.
