Andy they'll be fine - they left the factory like that and are tacked into place one side and then fully welded on the other so you'll trap in crap if you try to weld the other side up now after all these years. If I could be bothered to look up the strengh properties of a 4mm fillet weld I could tell you how strong they are but I can't. Safe to say a lot more that bunny-hops and rolling around London's streets can throw at them bud.

(I design & build Rail bridges for a living in case you didn't know)

I did think that with the amount of use on them that it might be still ok to use them

well back to the drawing board of how this bike came about  ::) ;D
