Thinking the same mate to be honest. Just grabbed a decent stem anyhow's, so all is good  :LolLolLolLol:

Alloy ones are really aimed at road bikes, you can get them in cro-mo though for mountain bikes, think Porkchop sells them.

I used 'em bitd to fit ahead stems to quil mountain bike forks and ours were bog standard ones at £8. I ran one myself on my Max Cromo 2 mountain bike and hammered it senseless and never had a problem one bit.
