I knew I would have one some day soon  :LolLolLolLol:

Can anyone advise me on how to clean or refinish the frame back to the original standard,  I remember these looked to have a clean and lightly grained finish albeit  unpolished finish  ?.

Fortunately I have some parts to assemble this Ripper, just a quick picture on the bench

Parts I have here to use on this one.

Chrome SE Pro size Power wings
Polished Suntour Power stem
Grey Bubble Font Am'e.
Blue Dia compe 1020's cables and levers
Blue Ukai Speedline rims shine sides with large  Suzue's
Comp 3's
SE chrome seat Post
Grey Alcantera Kashi
Blue Suntour arrow seat clamp.
Anno blue headset
NOS 44T chain wheel
NOS Blue SHimano GT 3pc crank
NOS blue TTK's
Izumi chain

Be Kind guys, this is my first SE.... :LolLolLolLol:

1000 or 1200 wet and dry

use water and fairy liquid

carefully run the paper up and down in the direction you want the brushed finish

do a test first on a bit, under the BB or something

is it bare metal now..? or lacquered ?

I think it's bare albeit I have not really looked to much it yet. To be fair the frame looks in very nice condition with decent drop outs and no damage on it anywhere  I can see.

Should look really sweet with the blue Anno blue stuff  is all mint to go on there.

That's a good link Bucky, it does look much cleaner than I remember them being  I think they were ball burnished and maybe lacquered ???

Made a couple of changes to the spec line up and had a look at the decals, they are a big dark so there going to be exchanged before its built.

They were ball burnished originaly , they guy who did them back in the day can still do them , but you have to ship them to the USA for that as no one we know of has a tank big enough to do a frame in the UK

Hi Carl,

Forgive me Brother for I have strayed  :-[

I have some really tasty idea's with this Ripper build.  8)

I Got round to testing out a few ways of restoring the ball burnished effect to the frame tonight and I have found a very simple way of making the frame look like the one in the link above..... The method took away some blemishes and heavier marks out of the area tested and its even worked brilliantly on the welds without a risk of taking material off those details.......  :daumenhoch:

They should be unstamped forks Darren  :daumenhoch:

Stamped forks only came out after the looptail had ended  ;)

Finally got some time today to start to put the Ripper together, the final parts I have for this one will  be here this week so maybe a chance to get out in the Sunshine on it and maybe just maybe get a chance to do RADTOR 2 on it rather than one of the  Robinson's for a change.... :smitten:

The seat may not stay I only dug this out due to being a good colour match, the chances are I will use a  Kashi covered with Grey Alcantera on this build......

Also has anyone advice on the seat to seat post issue, how have you guys got this to work ?.

Also not totally convinced on the frame finish, I wish I could have made MK to have a look at some of the TOP PK's...

Here are some shots, sorry for the building site....Much to do and little time to do it all...... :LolLolLolLol:

Serial PK 60885  is this a 1980 then ?  As I've seen people refer to the second digit as the build year.  :(. Not a clue here .....

Will have another look when not on phone, you could try asking Ash but he has his hands full right now with a tiny baby :)
