So with the drill bit in place it dawned on me that the little pillar drill may struggle removing so much material and a good quality hole saw would be a much better option.
Nevertheless i pressed on and just took my time with it. :)
It took around 25 mins :LolLolLolLol:

was thinking the same thing - won't there need to be a little gap so you can clamp down on the bars better?
looks ace flush, but can see the bars slipping if the 2 parts of the stem are completely flush...???

At the moment there is a gap of around 2.5mm between them. if it needs to be bigger I can file one of the internal faces but looking to have an almost seamless gap once installed on a bike :D
