GT Frame Small Repair

(1/3) > >>

Gyro1780:
So i bought a GT frame (2001 i think) When checking over the frame i've noticed that there are no numbers on the bottom of the frame. I thought that was weird so i placed a magnet on it & it wouldn't stick so removed some of the paint & it has some car bodyfiller there. I've chipped this off & noticed that someone has used a grinder on it to remove the numbers >:(
Obviously a stolen bike at some point which i'm extremely pi**ed off about :tickedoff: because i wouldn't have bought it.
My question is can these marks be repaired easily as i planned to get the frame repainted (original paint not that great). I have a good friend who can do this really cheaply for me which is why i wanted it redone but he's no good with metal work.

just sand off the filler, it should come off easy enough....then sand out any grinder marks. Do you have any pics?

Thank you for the reply. All the filler is removed but it has some scores where the grinder has been used. These won't be able to be sanded out. Their not too bad & don't ruin the frame at all.
I didn't really want to use bodyfiller so is there another way to repair?

I can take some photos this afternoon & post :)

You could fill with solder before painting...put some pics up and lets have a look at how bad it is  :daumenhoch:

I'll post some pics up shortly. Will take some now. :)
