I done that with some tuffs,but I didn't have a good enough template for the campy hub,but it does work :)

I intend to make some thinner plates (with false rivets) that simply stick over the original plastic hub without hacking chunks out of the wheel

It can be done . . . I just need measurements from a spare hub flange  :)
