identifying VDC woody itson bars
« on: November 18, 2006, 12:22 AM »
Can anyone tell me how to tell if a set of VDC handlebars are woody itson versions or not, i have found a pair on an old school ride, and think they may be a pair of them. They still have the VDC  sticker on them on the right hand side, but not the woody sticker on the other side, although the sticker may have been removed. Did VDC manufacture racing bars as well? if so this may be a set of them, im just not sure how to tell.

i've seen three variants on the VDC freestyle type bars. No idea which, if any, might be woody bars?

I had a set of VDC Woody's new from Superbike years ago, and the crossbrace was lower than those in the picture - they were more like the Hutch bars... I know the later Hutch Bad Bars were very similar to the Hutch Woody's but had a very small hole drilled in the end of the bars (where a grip lock would go) - I don't know why. They sometimes had some knurling in the clamp area... hope some of this helps!

Still wrecked. Going to the badlands (oldchurchhospital) on Monday for them to stick a camera in my leg see if the tendons torn/snapped/stretched etc. Cast on for another week or so. F*$king skateboards... Oh, sorry for the thread hijack!

Hi

Hutch Woody bars are later than VDC and have the beam at a lower height. They also have a tighter curved section near the stem -

VDC are the first generation of Woody bars -

If you have no use for them I'd appreciate them for a special build.

PM if you want to talk.

J.

OK , so i have a picture finally, can anyone please confirm these are woody VDC bars? They came off of a really early TA i own, and they sure look like there correct, (judging by the sweep and bends,) but any help is greatly appreciated. I guess that if VDC made racing bars, these could be a pair of those, as they are missing the woody stickers, but that decal may have been removed.Im really not sure .

the chrome bars right at the top of this thread seem to have a high up cross bar..any one else notice that or is it an illusion??..but everything else looks right....the woody ad pictured further up on pg 1..the bottom bends look too round, more like bad bars. I have seen Hutch Woody bars with and without a small hole near one end, so this would make it hard to tell if any plain no hole bars are VDC or Hutch unless you know the bars history...one of the nicest looking bars around for sure....I'd say the 'find' white bars are VDC woody's..nice score!
