I was going to buy that too but I managed not to, thanks to my "No A-head" rule. I dont think they ever made the sabbath in 1" which is a shame as I would like one.

btw, its McKinney's birthday today!

moeller let mckinney re- design the "heavy as fook" and the warpig was the result,

I've got an early one like that in red, in really good shape but dropouts have been opened out to 14mm

Did you know, when McKinney designed the Sabbath frame, he made a 1:1 prototype out of plastic tubing. He worked out all of the cuts, joins and angles and tubing sizes all made of plastic. It made it very easy to show the machine shop what he wanted cos it was all there infront of them.

Alex if i remeber right your bike had a lot of small mods ... didt you have a left side drive?

that right. As far as I know I had the first LHD. I was fed up of snapping chains every run. I made a new "cassette" for a shimano MTB hub that you could screw a 16t freewheel onto, and then screw to the hub (backwards). I still have the wheel. It was built on a araya aero (prob the best 36 hole rim at the time) with thick guage spokes.

I have done all kinds of crap to my bikes to make them work better (thickened up drop outs, added chain adjusters, front brake mounts) but my latest ride (built about 6 months ago) is all off the shelf, non modified! It was very strange not to have to change a dam thing!!!

I've got one in the shed. It's got a stuck (but turning) seatpost and it's bit beaten-up from its time as a street bike. Just a few dents on the chainstay, nothing serious. The plan was to make it look presentable in the New Year and use it whilst the T1 gets refinished -there's rust under the clearcoat.
Are they good to ride? The HAF didn't really fare well, and a couple just finished on eBay without making the reserve.
No plans for it afterwards, so watch out for a Spring Sale.

i always thought the holmes was named after john holmes the porn star because it was long!

I was just joking. The Holmes was named after John Holmes, not sure if Clymer designed it. Homeless bikes ripped off the dirtbike design and the HAF was a reaction to Standards. The Widow maker was named after Dee Snider (of Twisted Sister) other band cos he raced 24" for a while ... but Keith and John did design the Menstrual frame and maybe the "stupid" forks too (1" clamp on).

I think the PBR was John Paul Rogers' frame. Remember JPR? I met him at a UGP roots jam and he was one of the coolest guys i've ever met.

Here is a pic of my old set taken in 94ish. If you look close you can also see my ally body/steel sleeve pegs (before t1 "invented" it), my home made 4 spoke sprocket pocket to fit a flight ring, canti front brake and my legendary PE hubs with LHD. What a bike!
