use a V brake at least you will be able to stop  :LolLolLolLol:  there are some nice ones out there available in colours, Shimano have red and also black and gold (might take a little searching though) Odyssey have the A brake in colours too or you can run canti brakes for  a more mid school look.
Rhys brake posts are available from MTB shops, take your bike in though as they come in a couple of different sizes
