valuation section?
« on: March 14, 2007, 06:52 PM »
just an idea but how about a parts cost secton where you can look up the part you have or want and you can get an idea of its value?
you can have 3 or 4 different conditions and price according ie. conditions     poor,           average,          good,                 show
                                                                                                    prices            a---b            b-----c              c----d                 d-----e
it would be used as a rough guide but it would help to erase people like myself   needing offers when selling something
and it wont stop people finding bargins elsewhere but would erase anyone feeling ripped off who are on this site
it would take awhile to get info but there's enough knowledgeable people on here to help with this and it can be constantly updated as things become more and less rare

Problem is, somethings only as valuable as someone is willing to pay.  Prices can also fluctuate !

Only way of giving an idea, in my opinion, is the way they value bikes on the burner forum !!

Just my Tuppence

its only a rough guide it would help people to put prices on what they're selling people don't have to buy at the price stated and they can still make offers
it's a ball park figure for each condition
i don't know how they value stuff on the burner forum

To be fair, the burner forum is simpler because its only for burners.  They simply pm a mod with what they sold or have seen a bike sell for.  Its put into the list and averaged.

eg.

MODEL / AVERAGE PRICE- GBP  / NO. OF PURCHASES

1 MkI Red £78.75 / 10
2 MkI Blue £58.40 / 5
3 MKI Blue mag £70.01 / 7
4 MkI Blue Tuff £145.13 / 6
5 MkI Super £48.27 / 6
6 MkI Super Tuff £92.00 / 2
7 MkI Night £41.00 / 1
8 MkI Extra £87.00 / 2
9 MkI Chrome £50.83 / 6
10 MkI Ultra (Black) £80.00 / 3
11 MkI Ultra (Silver) £131.27 / 2
12 MkI Cromo (Tange) £255.00 / 1
13 MkI Pro Burner £393.33 / 3

Imagine trying to do that here with the amount of gear that passes hands, the list would be a mile long !!

as stace has said and not wanting to sound too vbmx, but os bmx is worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay on the given day....hard to call out a price list as this hobby is so up and down.

prices change, research is the key, but only if somebody is trying to squeeze every penny out of thier rad bretherin for stuff. What was paid is a good starting point. if you use it, knock a bit off what you paid, if somebody is trying to turn a quick buck, then may thier mother die in a freak yachting accident. just my 2 cents
