As you know, I've had my fingers in a few pots looking for early Condors... just a couple of weeks ago Dan (Harris) spotted one on the bay and tipped me off which turned out to be a rather nice 93 Ramp Room with lots of history. Well chuffed, but still wasn't the Mk1 SE made gem I really needed to satisify my goal...

Well, literally two days after, I heard from one of the other pots I had my fingers in (ooo, errr)...a certain Mr. S&MAlex had made contact with an old riding buddy of his, who he knew was a very early Condor adopter. So, over the last couple of weeks, Alex has taken care of negotiations and yesterday I went round to collect my new baby.

A massive thanks to Alex and it's previous owner, Mack. I am like a dog with two winkies now!

1992 SE Mk1 Condor, 1st batch with the relaxed headangle and original Mk1 1st batch Forks.

Here it is as I picked it up (Mack had brazed on some AD990 mounts to the forks):

I dismantled it and gave it a quick polish:

Here you can see the differences between the 92 & 93:

Headtube angle (92 at back) & Fork Bosses:

Rear drop-outs & peg bosses (92 at front):

Rear ends, note the difference in drop-out thickness (92 at bottom):

A massive thank you again to Alex, Dan, Mack, Mark, Pete and everyone who has been looking for me. Finally, it's here.

dont wanna pick you up on details Dave but the mounts on the forks are canti mounts. In 91 I worked out a way to get canti brakes to work with through a hollow stem bolt, at last great working front brakes on a BMX. When Mack got his condor I got the mounts brazed on for him. So sorry, that was my fault!

Nice one Dave, well pleased for you!

It's clearly been well worth the wait!

(The hoffman postings have been some of the best threads on here lately, IMHO)

Good to see the mounts were only brazed on as opposed to welded on too.

Now get her built and let us drool some more!

Dave, chuffed to bits for you - the Holy Grail has landed!

There's also a clue in those pictures as to how your Flash is looking too  ;)

What's the plan with the restoration then, full restore to original build?

Not sure yet Marty...definately back to catalogue complete spec with the exception of 3 piece cranks...but I'm unsure whether it's to be chrome or blue yet.

I need to sleep on it for a while...i've always wanted a blue one, but the argument could be that it was originally chrome so should remain so. If it does stay chrome it will need to be re-done as the finish isn't perfect (especially on the forks with the brazing).

No doubt the debate will run, but I know I'll be happiest with a blue one...

Defo go for the blue like Dan says, I don't know why I think they look so much better in blue, maybe with chrome forks though  :daumenhoch:

Dave, It's your bike, do what you want with it. I'm having the same internal iscussion with myself over the fate of my Skyway/DBI.

Zippy, don’t bring your DBI into another thread!!! This is about a great build of a condor, not butchering a 90s legend!

I had someone round my house today talking about that bike! He doesn’t even collect BMXs in the slightest, but he said that is a bike he would love to have! Make sure you let me know when you get it!

Sorry Stodgy, back to your condor!
