Fork change problem

(1/2) > >>

Robbo:
I changed the forks on my 06 Sport today and the new forks do not have the welded in bolt in the top which you screw the brake cable guide into, I believe it also holds the stem onto the forks?
Am I making sense and is there a modified part I can buy for this so I dont have to use my original forks?

I can add pics if it helps??

Cheers :)

I'll get some sorted tonight, I think I need a hollow stem bolt if you can buy them seperatley?

Trev:
does the bolt from your old forks fit?

i found this out the long way too.... you don't actually need the bolt formally known as the hollow stem bolt. this is now called a fork bolt i believe...

all that bolt does is holds your stem down before you tighten it.  once your stem is tightened, then you can take the bolt off and stick it back on your old forks.  but not all bolts will fit all size forks.  but you can buy these bolts seperately.

Philbert:
what forks have you put on
