That's the kiddie! from what you're saying you need to hammer in the star nut thingy into the top of the forks......the best way of doing this is to screw in the bolt into the nut........then get it as square on the top of the forks as poss and whack it with a hammer.....you can then hammer the top of the bolt to square it up (as it will go in a bit p*ssed)
oh and Trev....if they wrok the same as the MTB headsets you DO need the bolt as this pre loads the headset and stops it working loose.
