help removing seized bolts
losidan:
Hi,
one of the bolts into the bb axle on my cranks is seized in...I cant get the begger out and I was wondering what methods anyone else uses to get a seized bolt out?
any help much appreciated
meticulous:
you can try the wd40 or heating it up method, sometimes the shock from a sharp bang with a lump hammer, :daumenhoch:last resort try to cut off with a dremel
lodge:
Is it sheared/rounded or just wont budge?
losidan:
it just wont budge mate...it is starting to get a little rounded is the hex too so i dont want to do it too much in case i knack it completely.
MartyC:
Get a flat punch and give it a good whack with a hammer on the centre of the bolt to break the "weld" whre the two metals have seized if that fails get some diesel and pour it in and leave for a few days to soak before trying the punch again and then the right sized socket wrench :daumenhoch:.
Marty :)
