Replacements For Black Tuff Pads ?
SteveG:
Has anyone found a good alternative to black tuff pads ? I currently have some cheap copy pads from Wilkinsons that look right but have zero stopping capabilities on tuffs and fall apart like cheese.
I have seen the new long ones but don't know if they will work very well with old calipers, did wonder if I could cut some down a bit.
Is there anything else around that will work ? Tuff pads had a slightly sticky polyurethane feel to them that was different to most years ago, can anyone suggest anything that is easy to get ?
Del:
I've used Kool Stop Eagles in the past... they looks exactly like the Skyway Freestlye Tuff Pads
Edit.. here you go http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx'modelID=12237

Cheers for that. Been for a quick nose round one of the local bike shops and thay didn't have much. The only thing they did have was road bike pads with replaceable inserts that came in a soft meterial. Only trouble with them is that they might come out if you put the brakes on going backwards !
There are another couple locally so I will have a look to see what they have in stock, otherwise I will try some Kool Stop ones.
On a slightly different not I was going to ask you about Redline stickers. I have a nice frame but the stickers are ones I made from pinstripe tape so they don't look as good as a proper set. From what others have said the frame is a Japanese one and you are the person to talk to about them.
Del:
you could try normal Diacompe pads they work quite well.
As for the stickers, pm me about that

Got to take my daughter to school (just started doing afternoons) so I will get in touch later, thanks.
