New Race Bike
« on: October 06, 2008, 04:48 PM »
Right I was going to be riding a Haro next year but with them being delayed it's now looking like I'll be riding a Dialled Bikes MX24R framed bike instead.

Being very impatient I can't wait until they arrive as I'll need to get practicing on a cruiser long before the season starts if I want to be in good shape and up to speed.

Therefore I've built up my Intense Sabot. Here's some pics of it so far. Just waiting on the chainwheel and rim tapes before it's finished. Also not sure what seatpost and saddle to use. May have to use my SDG Air and a Carbon post but I'll see what they look like first.

Rims and headset came from Dans Comp in the states as they don't import chrome Rhino Lites into the UK anymore and they were cheap for Chris Kings as well so I thought hey ho why not.

The Shimano DXR groupset I ordered through my shop, if you want some let me know and I'll do you a cracking deal.

Might upgrade to those in time for the Dialled to arrive.  ;)

Where do you get them from?

Dans Comp do em, Si.  They're about 2 dollars each.  Be careful to get the right lengths though as I think the rear wheel requires about 3 different lengths (don't ask me what or why though as I know nowt about wheel building).

I think my next wheelset will be Sun Envy rims, King hubs and Marwi Ti Dye spokes.  I think that will knock about half a pound off the weight of my current wheels (Oddysesy Vandero hubs, Marwi Ti spokes and Sun Rhyno Lite rims).

Yes Neil the Haro will most probably be straight in and out the door now that the 09's are coming in so late. My MX24R will be here around the same time so I'll just swap the intense and the MX24R straight over and sell the Intense frame.

Here's a pic of my seat and post. What do you guy's reckon. It's an SDG Bel Air Bengal Tiger seat with Titanium rails and a Specialized S Works carbon fibre seatpost. I've got a Black version of this seat as well so if it looks gash I'll swap it.

I've never really liked the animal skin SDG's so I'd go with the black one.  I like the Specialized carbon seat post though.  Just don't crash your bike too often!

I'll pop the Black seat on tomorrow.  :daumenhoch:

The tiger skin is a bit marmite isn't it. Probably why I've still got it cos nobody wants to buy them.  :LolLolLolLol:

you want a nice half link chain on there Zips

question: what rings can you run on the DXR. obv. shimano but i find they are normally made of butter and cheese, can you get the middleburn hardcoat ones like on the XTR?

Most people run Saint rings on the DXRs, Crooch.

I started out with a 36T Middleburn, then a 41T Saint, now got a 42T Middleburn.

I also echo your thoughts on half link chains, much stronger than regular chains and also look nicer.  I'm using a Shadow Conspiracy one on my cruiser.  There's a new race specific (i.e. lighter) half link chain on the market in the US (made by FormCo I think) but not sure anyone in the UK sells them.
