Tips please - getting a bearing retainer on a new set of forks ?
brass monkey!:
any tips on getting one of the little round retainers that the lower ballrace sits on (forks/headset)? this one is tight and i don't want to damage the forks with a hammer and screwdriver, like i normally do....forks cost a lot you see ;) :D
sorry for the hopeless explaination, hopefully someone will know what i mean... ::)
HEYWOOD BMX:
:) The good old crownrace problem. If you have a tube/pipe or even an old 1 1/8 stem that fits over the steerer, then give slide the crownrace on & give the tube a good whack or 2...
brass monkey!:
no pipe of stem to hand right now..., good idea though :)
RATTY:
Plonk it in a cup of boiling water for 5 minutes, the metal expands just enough for it to slip on. Use pliers so you dont burn yourself :daumenhoch:
QUADROPHENIA:
if its for a sitter matt just dremel the fook out of the race
