As it says i got offered an old rusty bmx of a guy i got speaking to. Not really knowing what i was offered but thinking i could use some parts and break even on the rest i thought id buy it.
When i obtained it it looked like this

Then i had a little clean (first time at this) used the tin foil and coke method and wirewool/ autosol on the f/f, just soapy water on the mags/ parts

I was going to rechrome it all but decided to just decal it up and have it as it is. With new cables, tyres, seat and maybe fix the bars up. Not sure just yet

Really didnt know what i had till i got loads of interest in people wanting to buy this off me. Im glad i paid the Â£60 for it now

sweet fine, been trying to find a freestyler that had just the red decals with no black out line as a reference for the site. looks in great condition too.
what decals are you putting back on it?

please tell me you took the decals off with a hair dryer and you stuck them down onto some A4 paper, did it have any Made In Great Britain decals on?

reminds me of the first firebird I had that my mate gave me as compensation for denting my gt with a hammer

Hi again and thankyou for the very kind words. I did not use a hairdryer

to remove the decals. Though i did stick the ones i had saved on a bananna box

after reading your replies i rushed over and pealed them off. Now i have some yellow and green paper stuck to the back of the decal (not loads though).
DP-I have got the Made in England one too!! Iv stuck them on a white sheet now and i can take a photo if anyone wants a look to tell me if they are ruined. Iv also been on your website and had a look at decal, this 1 came with Red frame decals and Black and gold flame fork decals. I was going to leave them on but wire wool marks and they were torn/rusted.

Im not really looking to trade parts just yet as iv had a few offers for swaps and bidding. I have sold a couple of bikes to make room for this and my other streebeat.
2 builds at once is stressfull!

hi deano

when i got my chrome freestyler it looked like this, i only bought the frame, forks and headset
same decals, red and black on the frame and black and gold forks

it now looks like this

Those decals were like mine on the forks (mashed up) lol
Looks like the same chrome-moly made in england sticker too

Does yours have a stamp? I wondered why mine doesnt??
Do you suggest i put white walls on as i here thats what lads had bitd?
Seat clamp? MX or

Finally where did you get your decals? and why not the originals/ repro?

^^ yes i thought about it hard before i started pealin

then seen it cleaned up ok and would have been spot on for a survivor

Now ill just be happy to have it as is, and a few new parts that needed replaced.

Pleased is an understatement.

Id not seen a DP before this 1 though i new the name, so it was all new to me.

It had a lot of other stickers placed over it which protected the frame well in parts.

Iv only been bake into bmx's for the past 18months so still slightly wet behind the ears guys

I have had some great help on here so far.

A very nice looking freestyler mate

I uncovered my old one down at my parents last year.....my old man was due to SKIPit

So it now up my attic.

Mind you a few bits have vanished off it like, renthal bars,seat,dia compe seat clamp and its in grey primer.

Seeing this post makes me want to restore mine now !!

HJ, get it started mate. The interest iv had in mine has been shocking and the one on ebay for sale is doing well. Even makes me think of a quick sale after little work really its came up ok. For my first time at a REAL clean up.

Do it you wont regret it!!

I'm assuming the seatpost is a bit "special"then.
