still got the same problem painting over a shinny surface it scratches off real easy ..... the company i work for can put this paint in a 400ml aerosol . i should start selling it with the harry leary colour  :)

I have painted stuff in metallics before to try to recreate the original alloy finish, but it still looks painted to me. The nearest to original finish i have seen, is as mentioned abouve, glass paint.  Its tranlucent, and if you use a semi gloss laquer over the top, its quite similar to the original finish. depends on the look your trying to achieve i suppose.
