Redline Flight instalation query.
moley:
Did you follow RATTY's Redline Flight Installation guide?
http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=26518.0
richardb:
Yes I printed out a copy so pretty sure I am doing it correct. Its the instruction numbered 11 thats causing me problems not having enough thread left for the locking nut.
moley:
Assemble it!
Are there any gaps between the race and the cups?
Its not a sealed assembly so there will be a gap but it wont be huge.
If there is one then maybe your cups aren't deep enough for your bearings.
Whats the origin of all your components?
The Cups were already installed, what about the bearings?
Bearings can come in a variety of sizes and number of bearings?
Bearing retainers can come in 9, 10 and 11 bearings with 9 and 10 for most US BB and 11 for some Tange and more exotic 3 pc cranks.
Some UK Cranks are 9 ball but I dont know if these are BMX cranks or just old bikes from BITD like shopper bike and the like!
The top pic on RATTY's thread might be a 10 bearing retainer!! ???
The 2nd set looks like 11.
Have you any different cups you can try? :-\
Coastvl:
What BB are you using? If it's a Mongoose Bb (28tpi) theres a recessed washer that catches a lot of people out. It has to sit inside the reccess or there won't be enough threads left for the locknut. I think the Tange BB is the same also.
richardb:
Looks as if this may be the problem. If the lock washer sat in the recess this would give me enough thread. Do you know where I can get one that fits or would it be a case of filling the one I have down?
