my lovely wife still thinks I'm a cretin for being on this forum when I'm chilling out... as she sits and watches brain numbing shhit soaps... so we trade off vices...

with every post I like you more and more Griff... can totally relate to being skint and building my first bike ( this time last year to be exact ) - it takes a while to justify it to yourself more than anything else... the cost of it all is a bit  to start with... but when you look around and see what you can spend then you get used to it... you just have to push yourself to buy things and keep resetting your guilt level  :D ;D

regarding your list - those grips were Sharp ones - there was two types of ends you could get - a freestyle one and the normal one that had more of a lip - there used to be a site that had them but it seems to be gone now - not much change from £20 for them - a nice £8 set of Ame Rounds will be good if you have a budget.

oh... did I mention

£20? crikey even taking inflation into account that's a lot
mine were the 'lipped' ones of which you speak - got them as soon as they came out (found mushrooms too squidgey with bare hands) don't remember freestyle ones being available

AMEs it is then!

the prices are steep if i compare to the ally-framed mtb with rockshox and hydraulic disc brakes I found for my bro-in-law for 250 - FFS I just paid 85 quid for some crank arms

one good thing about all this from my mrs' point of view - she knows that if I'm out riding on a bmx at my age the VERY last thing I'm likely to be doing is messing with any other wimminz - BMXs were hardly chick-magnets back when I was 12-15 so 25 years later I doubt much has changed  ;D

I'd better get back to work!

OK so I've got home from work and the very first thing I did was open the box from DP and arrange my bits and bobs so ED and Bobafett (and any other voyeurs!) can finally have a look. Everything is now back in the packets and bubble-wrapped safely ready for when I can actually get busy with the spanners

now I've seen it 'sort of' together I'm itching to add more bits  :D

cheers

griff

cheers brettypeeps

so now you can probably tell which cranks they are - do you know if there are any chrome bolts available for these
looking close up couldn't tell for sure but don't think the ones in the box were anno'd..

thanks

Sweet frameset - have to be honest though - can't stand those UL seats/drainpipe post combos - soz mate  :-[

Without breaking the bank a generic layback and an MX or Aero copy would be better IMHO.

Build is coming along though - will make a great rider  ;)

no worries mate - i know they're not for everyone but I like the look of it, it's well light and was also cheap @ £20
wait till the purists see my basket/handlebar streamer add-ons then the insults will come  ;D
