So I've been making the hubs this week.

I started off by turning the main bulk of it on the lathe.

Then put them on the cnc milling machine to cut the disc mount shape bit.

The one on the left is the rear and bottom right is the front

Then got a bit of primer on them.

Heres the real ones for comparison.

Rear

It's easier for me to put the spoke holes in them after they've been cast so that'll come later.

Looking great, so the two you have made arent going to be used, you will make a mould from them and make cast from that?
If so so what happens to all the original parts, will you build up another one using them?

Yes correct. These will be used to make a mould and then probably stashed away somewhere. It's useful to keep the patterns as I might need to remould them at a later date.

Yeah I send him pics and updates and he replies with things like "ey up joe, that looks spot on does that" haha, proper Sheffield! He's gonna love it when it's done. I printed out a 1 to 1 scale colour print for the size of the model and couldn't believe how big it's gonna be. It's the same scale as the ripper but obviously a big travel downhill rig is way bigger than an 80's bmx!

So I thought I'd have a go at freestyling the seat as it would be grief to try and draw in CAD.

I started off with one of the old kashi's from the ripper as I figured they would have a similar general shape and it was already semetrical and stuff.

Then I started just covering it in body filler until it looked more likem the WTB seat.

when I was happy with it I marked where the stitching is on the seat and stuck down some thin lines of masking tape (forgot to do photos at this stage, sorry) to represent the raised embroidery.

Then I painted it with 2pac primer to soften the whole thing off. So I gave it a clean up and moulded it in silicone so I could cast them in resin like before.

Heres a pic of the pattern (grey) and a couple of resin castings. Theres also a start of a rail in this pic.

Heres some pics of the model seat with the real seat, looking at these now I see more and more differences every time I look at them. It should be fine though when it's painted and stickered etc...

Exactly, my resources are getting drained so I'm trying to be productive and smash out as much of this as I can while I've got the chance. Should really be being productive looking for work but can't be arsed and wanna get this done
