*** The Jaymz Cleavage stem build thread ***
« on: August 27, 2016, 02:47 PM »
So there i was, wandering round the helipad saying helo to folk and my bodge brother Jaymz offers up his last custom turned pro neck stylee stem shaft.

Thanks again Bud  :4_17_5:

At the time i thought it would be nice to combine it with the custom flex fighter he kindly gifted me the year before but i had no idea where to take it from there.

A busy week in work found me back in the workshop and sat in the corner gathering dust a block of ali kept catching my eye.

Whilst doing the ACS Wedgelok stem the lads at the waterjet firm had cut the wrong file, cutting a pair of stem blanks which they gifted me as it was their mistake  :daumenhoch:

Been thinking about alsorts of weird and wonderfull ways to make it boltless but i think i may make this one simpler  :daumenhoch:

The cleavage reference will become evident as the buld develops  ;)

Had a little go at squaring up the sides ( waterjet cutting wont cut perfectly square through 50mm )
Still had a course grit on my sanding wheel from a previous job and its left a lovely machine marks look that deep enough to feel. Thinking of keeping them  :D

Broke out the big guns today and spent longer than I should have done drilling the hole for the bars

Yeah think my 16 year old dinky table top pillar drill is on its last legs. Fair bit of play in the lower bearing.
Don't think the vibrations of boring massive holes in random bits of T6 over the years has helped  :LolLolLolLol:

Got my £35 quid out of it.... wonder if b&q will take it back?  ;D
