rims that are the Araya 7b look a likes, does anyone know what dates they were produced from and are they as strong as the Araya/Ukai rims??

they are fairly early 80s  ive got a red set in the shed somewhere.
they are the cheaper end of the market but ok.

I know they were cheaper and not so "fashionable" but was not sure when they first appeared, I may use some of these on a build because I don't hold out much hope of getting some nice 7 B's for less than a small fortune!!

I think Raleigh spec'd the later (I assume later) 7x copies on some of their bikes too.

Weinmann are well made rims...just not as much prestige as Araya. They top Sumo and the other Araya/Ukai wannabes.

A lot of the strength is in the wheel build itself, good qaulity spokes and the right spoke pattern (4 cross) will make an enormous difference to the strength of a wheel  :daumenhoch:

They are good rims as are Spencer rims  :daumenhoch:

yep, weinmann is the same quality as araya. they made and make a lot of stuff for road bikes. araya is another of shimano's company's anyhow. so many OS parts company's are actually owned by shimano, or the japanese company that owned them.araya, shimano,  dia-compe ect....
