Penrith BMX Club Needs Your Help, PLEASE
« on: January 26, 2010, 02:36 PM »
Hi Guys,

As some of you know Im on the committee for Penrith Club, we have had a proper kickin in the local
press about our planned track. Anyway below is a link to a petition, if you can take a minute to sign
it asap that would be great. We have just over a week to get as many names down as possible.

http://www.gopetition.co.uk/online/33611.html

Thanks all
JT

Going off these articles,   it looks like they are in favour of a BMX Track...........They just dont want it on their doorstep.

You should try offering to take them to Preston or Coppull.   Preferably not when start gates are slamming as the noise might put them off.   If you can turn a couple of the hardliners to the Darkside then their support will wilt.

Plus having the start gate at the far end means they'll be no noise getting through their double glazing anyway.

Where was the old BMX track located (as one lad said it was near to the proposed site)?

Thanks guys  :4_17_5:

We are so close to getting a chunk of cash from sport england that will complete the project from start to finish. BC pushed the council and us to go for land infront of a sheltered housing scheme and the residents dont want us there!! Its right beside J40 of M6, the residents have the M6 and A66 outside there window but say we will cause more noise  :idiot2: If we get it through it will be a reginal plus track on a national footprint. The local MP and a couple of councillors put in papers that it would be floodlit 24-7. As it stands more than likely wont even have flood lighting. Nobs  :2gunsfiring_v1:

Anyway, thanks guys and keep them signatures coming  :daumenhoch:

Done.

Funnily enough I'm in Penrith for a couple of days at the moment- let me know if there's anything I can do (other than gagging my Uncle - one of the more, er,  'vocal' protesters).

Good luck with the decision.

I'll get my name on there for you mate  :daumenhoch:

Is this the first stage of consultation or is it just people reacting to a news article? I'd try and contact somebody who might help you from the council angle.....maybe somebody in sports development, or parks and countryside. Sport development might give you a bit of a push with BMX racing being included in the olympics.

Is there no good news stories you can find of other tracks similar to yours and the effect it's had on the local community? Might even be an idea to see if you can get a quote or something from our very own girl racer  ;)

thing is with penrith its been taken over by old farts that are killing it off.
they complain and protest about everything but they have got 2 outdoor bowling clubs and have nearly half of our leisure centre for indoor bloody bowling its a joke
all of the work on the planning application has been done all necesary bodies that need to be consulted have been and the application has been recomended for approval.it just needs planning committee to vote in favour .............
i understand the residents concerns but they dont want to be in a cosultation situation believe it or not all they want is confrontation !!!!!!!!!
it dont make you feel good when pensioners want to pick a proper fight with you. :(
