Come on peeps. Tell us all what bmx was your first.

Mine was a mk1 super burner. I

might make a list up so we can see what starter bikes sold well and got us into this mad obsession!  :daumenhoch:

Whoops! Sorry about putting this thread I'm the wrong section!  Good to know the rad police are about! :police: :LolLolLolLol:

It comes as no surprise that there is a lot of Raleigh burners listed.  It does amaze me that they had the monopoly on starter bikes but didn't seem to progress much from there.  They must of had the funds.

Anyway I will leave this going for a while before making a list up. The more info on your make and model the better as I can only go on the details given.   :daumenhoch:

It also appears that most peeps love their first ride even though it was a pos looking back now. You just can't take away that feeling of riding your first ever bmx. It was you and the bike as one. Just  magical!!!  :daumenhoch:

I think the Burner thing was more down to availability than anything else.  My mum and dad couldn't afford to buy a bike from a shop which is why i had the GS (a catalogue special along with the GLX or S i believe) they also sold them in Halfords which for most would've been peoples only bike shop in town?

just my take on it  :daumenhoch:

I had an 18" bmx, but my first 20" was a raleigh detroit from halfords, eventually stripped the stickers off and put a skyway streetbeat sticker on it ;D sold it for 30 quid to get some forks for my custom fit, which I sold  :D

Your probably right mr pickle. I had never heard of the gs. I have probably seen one though. All the burners were pretty much alike just different colours and specs. They had every price range covered. And you had a desirable burner just like your riding buddies even if yours was low end it didn't matter. It was the fact that you had a burner!!

On the other hand would I have one now? Mmm probably not.

But never say never!   :LolLolLolLol:

I have a lot of respect for the burner boys. Even though I like to give them a ribbing every so often!
