Have a read through the Tech and Restoration Stickies. There's a thread there about good and bad chromers.  Should get you started.

pay more to get the job done right

a cheap chrome job with errors ruins the frame!

most chromers don't do the prep work,...it's crucial to therefore prep the frame properly otherwise the finish will look sh!te no matter how good the chromer is...

I just got some Landing Gears back from a Chromers in Canvey, they are superb, and only £25 for the job.

they were already striped, and a mate of mine who's an antique retorer polished the forks beforehand,.

For 25 quid they did them in the highest grade show chrome, which I think involves nickel, then copper then chrome plating..., I thought that was pretty reasonable..

don't forget these are southern prices ! LOL !!

how mush do you pay oop north ?

I paid £180 for frame and forks which includes the prep work which is the bit you have to get right. I am pretty pleased with mine as it was quite heavily pitted so they did a good job of prepping it.

Too much is the answer but I wanted them so I had to pay it.  :crazy2:

They were off someone in Singapore and I ended up in a bidding war with somone in Brazil with zero feedback  :2gunsfiring_v1: I think they cost me about £70 quid in the end.

My frame and forks was chrome before it was painted. The chrome was just roughed up a bit or maybe etch primed prior to painting. I removed the paint so the chrome still needed removing and the chromers did that for me. So it's no more work for you  :daumenhoch:
