Kev, as long as you "dull" the chrome, ie; emery tape, and the chrome is still firmly attached to the frame, then the powder will "etch". I have had no probs, but if the chrome is starting to peel, then I remove it. It is surprising how thin it is and how easy it sands off, using a "DA" of course. Wouldn't dream of doing by hand! ;D. Ad

is it best to clean off rust and then treat with that rust convertor stuff ?
