I am an old schooler so please excuse my ignorance on new school matters. I am opening my eyes to the new school phenominum and i was wondering what u guys opinion was on the best bikes of 08. I have heard good things about we the people, eastern and FIT, and negative comments about subrosa, haro and some of the usual suspects. I am in the market soon for a ns ride and wondered what the consensus is........help appreciated

to be honest most new school frames are like for like these days. all around the £200 mark. wafer thin 4130 to keep the weight around 4.5 - 5 lbs. all are double diamond design and probably churned out from the same factory in taiwan. if you want something of real good stuff, i.e. technology and thought! look at some of the s&m's, the top end fits, T1, and later in the year standard. basically the companies with mid school crudentials, they know the technology!

I'm not up on the new bikes but while looking for one for my daughter I decided on an Eastern as you get a lot of bike for your money.

Agree with what CBCL said but it kinda depends on your budget and whether you gonna buy a stock complete or build a custom.

The WeThe People complete bikes range is pretty good,seem to have something for every budget & the build quality is up there on the top end ones.

WeThePeople have a great range of completes, Eastern have stepped up and looking real good, Premium Products are doing some lovely completes now and worth a peak at the new 2-hip range too.

If you're going custom...man, the world's your oyster.

It all depends on budget and use.

Yeah i have heard a lot of good things about FIT, what about eastern and we the people, anyone reccomend these and i quite like the l of mirraco too

consider yourself very lucky mate.....normally it's either out of stock or they send you something completely diferent!

I bought an Eastern Jane in October, it's been a pretty solid bike, but when you come to change things, it's been a bit annoying. Headset went, uses cane creek, not campy like everyone else. Just took the cranks out and it uses a euro BB, but the spindle is nether 19mm or 22m.

Just something to be aware of.

they have a bad history of not having the items they advertise, or sending you something completely diferent from the advert or what you ordered.....and their customer service is shockingly bad!

other than that you pays your money and takes your choice

i never had a problem with em. ordered khe 165mm flat cranks c/w titanium axle as soon as they were shown in ride the other year. they said they'll be in later in the week and sure enuf they were at my door within 2 days. think they got the price wrong as incl tit axle they were well cheap.
a mate ordered a macneil frame but it never showed so complained and canceled the order and went elsewhere. few weeks later the cancelled frame turned up. he was never billed for it.

I personally think the We the people completes rate up there.

Been riding a 2007 Phoenix Pro and haven't had to change a part (Much to Trev's disgust as I haven't bought any bits of him yet

), nice and light with good quality parts as stock.
