Is there a less brutal way of removing sealed profile type bb bearings?

yep, ill try that. its just difficult to get to it with the spacer in the way, its all about the size of the punch i think...

also without too much effort the bearings should come out of the cups.
giving you ample room to biff away

the bearings are meant to come out of the cups arent they?

on another thread i was sure that the bearings on my redline crank were integral with the cups. but they are not. they do come out
