UKAI

SaMAlex:
I thought everyone knew them. Maybe they were more of a race thing, and not so much a freestyle wheel?

There were UKAI adds in almost every mag bitd.

You should check the prices between a set of Ukais (approx £125) to a set of Arayas (approx £80).

The speedlines seem to be a much more sought after wheelset. I remember them back in the day but not as much as Arayas, as most people round my way had arayas or tuffs.
I only ever really saw them if I went to Rom.

munners:
I reckon ya just cracked it mate. I'm from London/Surrey and maybe they were just a bit scarse down these parts? It was Arayas and tuffs here too. I used to buy the bmx mags though and i still cant really remember them in them. Wierd. May have been a northern ting!

Moose:
It was mostly about tuffs round our way, but Arayas as well and I certainly remember Ukai's and Weinmann as rim manufacturers (not forgetting other mag makers like Aero and Acorn)

brass monkey!:
strange not remembering UKAI's from BITD, a lot of my mates had em, must say they weren't as popular or common as Araya's....., i'd also say they were as good as them, probably more scarce, so more desirable for that fact possibly.

Personally I rode with most wheels, but had a preference for Skyways or Z's !!
