The BMX part (where BMXers are supposed to stay) is quite restricted but the BMXers I've seen there were riding wherever, so I've followed suit, though have tried to keep out of people's way. I've been the only BMXer the four times I've been riding there.

About 7 weeks ago I noticed like a sore on one of the twins. At the time I had no idea what it was. Bit itchy for a few days... Well then it spread. Like all over my old chap and down between my groin. I went to the doc, and he thought it was thrush. Gave me one pill and some cream. I swear, that was the gnarliest pill I have ever taken. Made my head crash, sweats etc. Well it just made it 10x worse. I looked like a red cauliflower down there. Got back to the doc 4 days later and I had been bleeding a lot. I still had no idea what it was. This time he gave me some steroid cream and some strong painkillers. I had to sit on a towel for about a week. I could not even put on PJ shorts as it was so painful. The cream sort of worked, but it only got to around 95% better. Weeks later I went back to the doc. This time he has given me some cortizone cream and anti biotics, after I realised what had actually happened....
I am a bit obsessed with self hygeine. So I have been erm, shaving down there for many years. Well one time I forgot to do it and got in the shower and grabbed a razor. Must have nicked the sack, and got an abscess. Which then got infected, and the treatment for thrush literally fed it. So here I am two months later still trying to heal it. The worst is now gone. Only problem is the ABs are giving me the squirts ffs.
The cranks came in. I swear they are absolutely identical to these.

So I am stoked. Just need to paint them yellow now.

New School Park, Street & Dirt / Skate Park Newbie
« Last post by Mikku on May 24, 2025, 10:08 AM »After forty plus years looking at them with a mixture of awe, curiosity and intimidation, I have finally started riding at a skate park. It’s quite a big, concrete park about a 15-minute drive from home. I discovered it almost by accident just over a year ago and finally gave it a go last week. I liked it so much that I’ve been back three times and have now started looking for a decent, secondhand park bike!! At the moment I’m just riding my Quamen which is not ideal but is the best choice out of my race bikes, with a chromoly frame and forks and a shorter back end. It’s also a bike I know well, which is a bonus.
Riding-wise, I’m basically just flowing around, trying different lines, pumping features, carving the ramps and wedges, dropping in the smaller quarter pipes and hitting a small hip jump. Just getting more confident and taking it all in tbh. I’m not really interested in doing grinds, so will not be needing any pegs but would, ultimately, like to air out of quarterpipes. Easier said than done, I know but that’s definitely a goal. In the meantime, I’m going to keep enjoying this new-to-me branch of BMX.

« Last post by Mikku on May 24, 2025, 10:01 AM »Another weekend, another weather cancellation.
At least this one's been postponed for a fortnight rather than cancelled altogether. Unfortunately the rainy season's due to kick in soon, so I won't expect too much.
On a brighter note, I hit up the skate park again yesterday and really enjoyed it. I love my racing but BMX has just got a lot more fun!

Had Covid and then flu in a row from October til past Christmas, and now I am suffering from an infection. I won't go into it, because it will make you whince but yeah. I am not even capable of working on anything right now, let alone buying anything or riding. Fookin sucks
I hope you doing better now mate

« Last post by Mikku on May 18, 2025, 02:02 PM »Today's race was rained off, so I did the only sensible thing and went to a skate park instead!
I actually went there for the first time this week, taking the Quamen as that's the nearest thing I've got to a street/park bike (kind of). Really enjoyed ripping around the ramps, dropping in the smaller quarter pipes and hitting a hip jump. This is definitely a welcome addition to my race training as it's a bloody good workout, is going to improve my general bike skills and perhaps most importantly, is only a 15-minute drive from home. If I really get into it, I may have to pick up a proper park bike but for the time being, the Quamen will do the trick, even if the rider can't.
Next race is next weekend, back up in Niigata, so hopefully the weather's okay for that.
